David is a great photographer had a great day out learning how to use my camera and taking great pictures, also on the editing front he’s the best! Highly recommend if you're wanting to learn more about photography or if you're a beginner!!!

I went on a beginner workshop with David which was taking place in the Yorkshire Dales. I can't recommend David enough for anyone who wants to get into photography more and get more out of their camera. The workshop started with David's in-depth explanation of how cameras work and how to manipulate light, balancing aperture, iso, and shutter speeds. David also explained to us how to use histograms along with a few bits about file formats and good housekeeping for SD cards. Even though I was aware of shutter speeds, iso and aperture, the rest of the day showed me how little I actually knew about my camera. David took us to several spots including big landscapes, waterfalls and even some lovely spots with some lonely trees which provided a good setup for a nice composition. During that time he showed us how to use manual focus and play with depth of field and how to bring more things into focus and have much sharper images. He also had a few tripods that we could borrow and showed us the advantages of using a tripod in landscape photography. Along with that, he answered all of the questions I had on the day and trust me they were a lot. From how to use filters, to how to stitch photos together to create panoramas, to bracketing. I can't cover everything in one review unfortunately, but what I can say is - if you are looking to learn more about photography and you are not sure where to start and you are thinking of signing up for a workshop, definitely book one with David and you won't be disappointed.

I have been on a number of photography workshops with David; both on group workshops and on a 1-2-1 basis in Yorkshire, Northumberland and Scotland. David is a very patient and experienced instructor and I have learnt a significant amount about my camera and photography techniques in such a short time; which is testament to David's teaching skills and relaxed style. Whilst on a workshop with David, he will be flexible with locations to ensure that he selects the best locations to match the weather conditions each day, ensuring you can get the best out of your images. David, Many thanks for organising the week long trip to Scotland. How you manage to organise a dry Scotland with blue skies for a whole week in November is a mystery to me but you achieved it. It is a credit to yourself and the dedication you put into preparing your workshops that for such a distant location you were able to take us to ideal spots in the middle of nowhere to take shots of breath taking scenery in both Glencoe and on the Isle of Eigg. Just returned from a weekend workshop with David in the Dales. Challenging weather conditions but Davids knowledge of the Dales meant we could still photograph interesting sites. The first time I have been on a workshop when the guide leaves his own camera behind, meaning that he is concentrating on helping his guests learn new skills in both camera technique and composition.
