Just returned from a weekend workshop with David in the Dales. Challenging weather conditions but Davids knowledge of the Dales meant we could still photograph interesting sites. The first time I have been on a workshop when the guide leaves his own camera behind, meaning that he is concentrating on helping his guests learn new skills in both camera technique and composition. I look forward to meeting David again and learning a bit more. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I really am a beginner when it comes to photography so, during the course of what was a very enjoyable day, David patiently explained the functions of my camera and showed me how using them can create better pictures. I'm pretty sure I won't be shooting in automatic again!!
A great day out leading to a lot more confidence! My husband booked the beginners' workshop for me and I was pretty nervous, as well as excited, about it. I shouldn't have worried! David uses a pre-questionnaire to gauge your experience- I joked to friends that the only question I was confident to answer was the one about the camera itself - but it turns out, I was wrong about that as well! So you can understand that I was a total beginner! But after a quick chat and some camera basics, we were off and photographing! We visited great locations, I learned how to put the discussions into action and it was easy to experiment and see the impact of making changes. After lunch, David encouraged me to start experimenting myself with the choice of subjects, which felt great. I came away, with my expectations more than met, some great pictures and the understanding and enthusiasm to take my new hobby to the next stage. If you are considering one of David's courses, go on, give it a go!
Hi David, I cant say how much I enjoyed the workshop, even in the wet morning conditions. You are a natural teacher, that is quite a rare skill. The advice was constructive and never judgemental and we both felt that we could ask for help without feeling stupid. I was physically tired after such a long day - don't know how you do it and keep up the enthusiasm when working on consecutive days. I will be coming on some future workshops. Thanks again Lyn
I have just been on a one to one with David to the Flamborough area. To say it was a good day is an understatement. If you want a day out with somebody who fully understands all aspects of Photography and wants to share it with you this is your man. Nothing was too much trouble. Very many thanks David.
Booked the beginners landscape photography course for my boyfriend and myself for his birthday. Learnt a staggering amount in our day workshop... more than we learnt several months reading books and struggling on our own! Can’t wait to put our new learning into action! Thanks so much David! Well David, I have found time to sit down and thank you for a great day out at Malham in early February. When I say early I also mean early in the morning. The day was absolutely brilliant. You pitched the day just right for my knowledge. I now have more confidence when using my camera on ‘manual’ mode. If anyone wants a great day out learning about landscape photography, book a day with David. All the best David and I hope to share another day with you in the future
Hi David Thank you for the ‘eye opening’ workshop. Given that I was (and am) a complete novice, I am just very thankful you didn’t try to complicate it for me. I was worried I wouldn’t understand the technicalities of a camera but I am feeling a lot more confident about experimenting with the various settings now. I had a one to one session with David. Im new to photography and was worried that i would struggle with the lessons. But David really brought it down to my level and by the end of the day I was taking some amazing shots and understanding what was been taught… I can’t thank David enough for the day I had and as soon as I’ve saved some more money i will definitely be booking my second lesson and hopefully go to the coast!!! I cannot recommend this man enough!!! You will not regret any money you spend on a day with him!!! Thank you so much David!!!

I recently completed a 3 day course in the Yorkshire Dales, and it was great. I'm not a beginner, and I've been using DSLR's for 15 years or so. But David taught me a lot of new techniques and introduced me to half a dozen features that I've never used on my camera before. And even though the course was mixed ability I always felt that I had personal attention, and suggestions. He also knew all the best spots to go to across the whole range of weather that we had, from gusty sunshine to pouring rain (and the best places for breakfast...). I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend David to anyone looking to take their next step in photography. It's reawakened my interest, and I'm back out there trying things out.
