I recently had a 1 to 1 with David over two days. It was great to get back out once again after the COVID-19 pandemic with my camera but wasn’t sure what to expect. It was very quiet and we hardly saw anyone else. David was very professional, we kept our 2 metre social distance and both used hand sanitisers. If any fine adjustments were needed he just talked me through any alterations with my camera at a safe distance. I had two fantastic days and I would recommend David to help you get the best out of photography at all levels. Thanks again David, you made me feel so relaxed and more confident during these surreal times. I cannot wait for my next 1 to 1 with him.
A great 1-1 day during which I learnt a huge amount from David and we went to some excellent photographic locations in Northumberland that I'd not been to before. Up to now I've just used basic techniques but I now understand a lot more about my camera and how to get the best out of manual settings, as well as finding out how long exposure settings and filters can enhance shots. Highly recommended.
Well David, I have found time to sit down and thank you for a great day out at Malham in early February. When I say early I also mean early in the morning. The day was absolutely brilliant. You pitched the day just right for my knowledge. I now have more confidence when using my camera on ‘manual’ mode. If anyone wants a great day out learning about landscape photography, book a day with David. All the best David and I hope to share another day with you in the future
I have just returned from a one day workshop in the Yorkshire Dales, where it threw it down and blew a gale all day. Despite this, I had a great time thanks to David Speight, my instructor. David is a very talented photographer, but his knowledge of the subject and calm patience also make him a great teacher. He knows the Yorkshire Dales like the back of his hand and so we were able to switch location several times during the day to make the most of the bad weather. Throughout the day, David made every effort to ensure I met all of my objectives from the workshop, he clearly cares about his clients satisfaction. I left with some great shots, but also with the confidence to go and develop my skills further on my own. Having said that, there is always more to learn and so I will be looking forward to my next workshop with David, maybe during a spell of better weather.
Dear David, The Acrylic panel arrived on Monday thank you, as scheduled. I am very pleased to say that the picture has even exceeded our aspirations! It is a very vibrant and colourful print and the acrylic mounting format is stunning, and will act as a vivid reminder of a trip we had there last year on a bright sunny day. My normally difficult to please partner (who it was a late Christmas present for) described it as the most beautiful picture she’d seen. I was initially concerned about the very high-gloss finish acting like a mirror, as the location we bought it for is on a reflection line next to our living room bay window. I ordered this finish, following your initial suggestion, mainly as the canvas version wasn’t available in my favoured size. However, the appearance when viewed from other angles in the room and in artificial light, more than makes up for any surface reflection issues. We have an existing ceiling spotlight located directly above it which further helps to enhance it in artificial light. Booked the beginners landscape photography course for my boyfriend and myself for his birthday. Learnt a staggering amount in our day workshop... more than we learnt several months reading books and struggling on our own! Can’t wait to put our new learning into action! Thanks so much David! David is a great photographer had a great day out learning how to use my camera and taking great pictures, also on the editing front he’s the best! Highly recommend if you're wanting to learn more about photography or if you're a beginner!!!

Highly recommended David. I am a complete beginner to photography. David explained the settings on my camera in a way I understood. It was a brilliant day out in the Yorkshire wolds. I got some great photo's and loved every minute of it. Informative, encouraging and inspiring. Thank you, David.
I imagined that on my first workshop it would be mostly showing me how to work the camera and use manual setting, de-mystifying focus, iso and exposure. This was the case but alongside the technical aspects of using a camera I was also getting a lot of information about how to look at landscapes. I had no idea how to see an image. David showed me how to make the best of an area and I came away with an image I now have on my wall. I have been on several trips with David now, from the Yorkshire coast to the Wolds from a hike up the hills to exploring a waterfall. David is patient and knowledgeable, he makes you see in a different way. Generous with his knowledge, and locations. David has helped me see there is much more to learn and he has a passion for the landscape that is infectious. I have learned more in a day with David than I have reading loads of books on landscape photography. There is no substitute for getting out there and wrestling with the conditions presented to you by nature and no better companion than David to show you the way. Michael White
Spent a great day in the Yorkshire Dales with David. Learnt loads and came away inspired. Lots of tips on camera use, thinking creatively when looking for and setting up shots and how to take the time to develop good habits. All immensely helpful. Will no doubt be back.
