Just returned from a weekend workshop with David in the Dales. Challenging weather conditions but Davids knowledge of the Dales meant we could still photograph interesting sites. The first time I have been on a workshop when the guide leaves his own camera behind, meaning that he is concentrating on helping his guests learn new skills in both camera technique and composition. I look forward to meeting David again and learning a bit more. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Thank you for a brilliant day in the Hebden Bridge area. Part of a group of 4, Davids enthusiasm and obvious passion for photography was clear. He took his time with everyone, answering any number of questions and took us to numerous different locations to get good shots. He is such a professional but has a refreshing, easy going approach that made it such an enjoyable experience. I most definitely came away from the day wanting to put everything into practise and learn more. Very highly recommended.
Booked the beginners landscape photography course for my boyfriend and myself for his birthday. I have been on a number of photography workshops with David; both on group workshops and on a 1-2-1 basis in Yorkshire, Northumberland and Scotland. David is a very patient and experienced instructor and I have learnt a significant amount about my camera and photography techniques in such a short time; which is testament to David's teaching skills and relaxed style. Whilst on a workshop with David, he will be flexible with locations to ensure that he selects the best locations to match the weather conditions each day, ensuring you can get the best out of your images. I started out as a relative beginner and through attending David's workshops, my photography has improved and I can now say I'm an intermediate photographer in a camera club, entering international competitions. Even on my most recent workshop, I still learnt new techniques from David and would thoroughly recommend David's workshops. You won't be disappointed with the fantastic photos you will return home with and the techniques you had learned from David along the way.
I would never have imagined that on a rainy, misty november day I could take photographs in hebden bridge and calderdale, of old mill buildings and waterfalls, that are, to my eyes, stunning! I would never have achieved this without the patient, dedicated and knowledgeable teaching, guidance and coaching that David gave through nine hours of cold, dull West Yorkshire weather. I'll certainly be back for another course.
Many thanks once again for another excellent couple of days out with you. Your knowledge of the Yorkshire countryside and the best places to take photographs must be unique and unsurpassed. Amazing places so close to the 'Industrial North' and some great pics. Thanks for introducing a couple of techniques new to me that were a great help and which I will go on using. See you next year!
I had a one to one session with David. Im new to photography and was worried that i would struggle with the lessons. But David really brought it down to my level and by the end of the day I was taking some amazing shots and understanding what was been taught… I can’t thank David enough for the day I had and as soon as I’ve saved some more money i will definitely be booking my second lesson and hopefully go to the coast!!! I cannot recommend this man enough!!! You will not regret any money you spend on a day with him!!! Thank you so much David!!!
Having just returned from the 3 day Autumn workshop in the Lake District with David and being quite a novice and put at ease very quickly by David. Firstly the accommodation at Lane Head Farm was first class, and I would highly recommend. Even having a couple of damp days you always found some stunning locations, you introduced me to parts of my camera I wouldn’t touch, but now enjoy taking manual pictures, I will keep practising on every opportunity and hope to book again in the near future. Thanking you again for your expertise and friendship through the whole 3 days.
Swaledale Meadows, early June. This was my 5th workshop with David. I started as a complete novice 4 years ago. He is always enthusiastic, helpful, patient and I always feel I have learned so much in a long day with him. Just working out what he has available in the next couple of months.
I ordered two large mounted prints from David and am thrilled with the quality of the photos and David’s service. The photos arrived carefully packaged and within a week. I had a couple of queries when buying them and he was able to respond to my emails quickly making the service really personal. I have already recommended David’s photographs to friends and I will certainly be back for more prints in the future.
I recently completed a 3 day course in the Yorkshire Dales, and it was great. I'm not a beginner, and I've been using DSLR's for 15 years or so. But David taught me a lot of new techniques and introduced me to half a dozen features that I've never used on my camera before. And even though the course was mixed ability I always felt that I had personal attention, and suggestions. He also knew all the best spots to go to across the whole range of weather that we had, from gusty sunshine to pouring rain (and the best places for breakfast...). I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend David to anyone looking to take their next step in photography. It's reawakened my interest, and I'm back out there trying things out.
