Just returned from a Northumberland workshop tired but having learnt a huge amount. David's style was relaxed but he had plenty of time for one to one for us all. We got up early and went to just the right places to capture spectacular sunrises and sunsets. I returned with armfuls of superb images and a desire to do more. We even covered some non-landscape activities which were different and have widened my interest base.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Glencoe workshop and spent the 4 days with lovely company. We had some pretty wet weather to contend with but David always found somewhere for us to shoot. I finally learnt how to get the best settings out of my camera. David was very patient and very knowledgeable. The areas he took us to were stunning and I got some stunning photographs. I cant wait until I can do another workshop with him
Going to the Lake District on a photography workshop on the wettest weekend, was quite an experience. David knowledge of the area, enthusiasm and patience, turn this weekend from a disaster into a brilliant workshop. David drove and drove, avoided areas of floods and searched the sky for spots of light clouds and maybe sunshine, so that we can take some photographs. And we did! Finding the best spot for THE right image and helping with camera setting when needed and any problems we encountered, provided us with some amazing images that otherwise we would have never achieved. Thank you very much David, looking forward to the next workshop.
I cannot recommend the beginners photography course with David highly enough, from the ease of booking and payment to communication about the days logistics. Starting with explaining the basics of any DSLR camera to explaining the functions easily on our individual camera types. Demonstrations of equipment and technique was thorough and Davids knowledge and experience in his field are second to none. We were guided through some spectacular scenery and venues to try all sorts of different styles of photography, different subjects, lighting and locations. A full, fun packed immersive day with a professional. I may not have had a clue about my new hobby before I went, but after my workshop I have a good overview of my equipment and the know how to go away and start practicing. Nothing was too much trouble to explain and no question too silly, I ABSOLUTELY loved every minute! I will be back! Thank you David for igniting a new hobby and passion in me! After a long delay due to Covid restrictions, David and I finally got together for a Basics for beginners one to one workshop. I thought I knew how to use a camera, but how wrong I was. I could ramble on about how much I learnt, but if like me, you love taking pictures, but are disappointed with the results, then this workshop is for you. David made me a promise at the start of the day, that by the time my workshop was finished, I would never use the 'Auto' setting again on any camera. He was right. I ended the day with some of the best pictures I have ever taken, and a lot of new knowledge. David is a patient man, and delivers the workshop in a very practical style.
A great day out leading to a lot more confidence! My husband booked the beginners' workshop for me and I was pretty nervous, as well as excited, about it. I shouldn't have worried! David uses a pre-questionnaire to gauge your experience- I joked to friends that the only question I was confident to answer was the one about the camera itself - but it turns out, I was wrong about that as well! So you can understand that I was a total beginner! But after a quick chat and some camera basics, we were off and photographing! We visited great locations, I learned how to put the discussions into action and it was easy to experiment and see the impact of making changes. After lunch, David encouraged me to start experimenting myself with the choice of subjects, which felt great. I came away, with my expectations more than met, some great pictures and the understanding and enthusiasm to take my new hobby to the next stage. If you are considering one of David's courses, go on, give it a go!
I’ve just returned from David’s Lake District workshop and can’t thank him enough for his knowledge of the area and the fantastic photographic locations he took us to and for all the tips and techniques he gave me which resulted in many images I am really pleased with. His relaxed and friendly manner made the whole experience a complete joy .
I did the Northumberland workshop and would like to thank David for the effort he put in to make it work. He delivers essential information in a relaxed style in the field. He loaned me filters and a tripod head so I could learn new techniques and shared his time equally. A great course.
I recently completed a 3 day course in the Yorkshire Dales, and it was great. I'm not a beginner, and I've been using DSLR's for 15 years or so. But David taught me a lot of new techniques and introduced me to half a dozen features that I've never used on my camera before. And even though the course was mixed ability I always felt that I had personal attention, and suggestions. He also knew all the best spots to go to across the whole range of weather that we had, from gusty sunshine to pouring rain (and the best places for breakfast...). I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend David to anyone looking to take their next step in photography. It's reawakened my interest, and I'm back out there trying things out.
I’ve recently been on one of Davids “one to one” courses and I can honestly say it was a superb day. David is a great teacher with masses of knowledge on camera techniques, composition and Photoshop. His character comes through on the day and this sets you at ease so you don’t feel like your being taught, but you are. One last thing, his choice of locations have some spectacular images to capture. I’ll definitely be booking one of his courses in Whitby next year.
I recently had a 1 to 1 with David over two days. It was great to get back out once again after the COVID-19 pandemic with my camera but wasn’t sure what to expect. It was very quiet and we hardly saw anyone else. David was very professional, we kept our 2 metre social distance and both used hand sanitisers. If any fine adjustments were needed he just talked me through any alterations with my camera at a safe distance. I had two fantastic days and I would recommend David to help you get the best out of photography at all levels. Thanks again David, you made me feel so relaxed and more confident during these surreal times. I cannot wait for my next 1 to 1 with him.
