Hi David Thank you for the ‘eye opening’ workshop. Given that I was (and am) a complete novice, I am just very thankful you didn’t try to complicate it for me. I was worried I wouldn’t understand the technicalities of a camera but I am feeling a lot more confident about experimenting with the various settings now. Just had a tremendous day in Northumberland... Howick, Alnwick Castle and Holy Island. Expert tutoring from a real professional who shares his extensive knowledge fully. Opened my eyes to the potential that my camera has to offer, which hitherto had been a mystery. Tremendous. Just need to fix a date for another workshop.
Highly recommended David. I am a complete beginner to photography. David explained the settings on my camera in a way I understood. It was a brilliant day out in the Yorkshire wolds. I got some great photo's and loved every minute of it. Informative, encouraging and inspiring. Thank you, David.

A great day out leading to a lot more confidence! My husband booked the beginners' workshop for me and I was pretty nervous, as well as excited, about it. I shouldn't have worried! David uses a pre-questionnaire to gauge your experience- I joked to friends that the only question I was confident to answer was the one about the camera itself - but it turns out, I was wrong about that as well! So you can understand that I was a total beginner! But after a quick chat and some camera basics, we were off and photographing! We visited great locations, I learned how to put the discussions into action and it was easy to experiment and see the impact of making changes. After lunch, David encouraged me to start experimenting myself with the choice of subjects, which felt great. I came away, with my expectations more than met, some great pictures and the understanding and enthusiasm to take my new hobby to the next stage. If you are considering one of David's courses, go on, give it a go!
Really enjoyed my day with Dave on the Robin Hoods Bay workshop. Apart from being a good instructor and an enthusiastic coach; he is one of those guys who has the ability to put you at ease as soon as you meet. Dave knows the location well which allowed us to visit a number of different areas during the day. I would recommend a workshop with Dave to everyone.

I recently completed a 3 day course in the Yorkshire Dales, and it was great. I'm not a beginner, and I've been using DSLR's for 15 years or so. But David taught me a lot of new techniques and introduced me to half a dozen features that I've never used on my camera before. And even though the course was mixed ability I always felt that I had personal attention, and suggestions. He also knew all the best spots to go to across the whole range of weather that we had, from gusty sunshine to pouring rain (and the best places for breakfast...). I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend David to anyone looking to take their next step in photography. It's reawakened my interest, and I'm back out there trying things out.
Many thanks for an excellent two day workshop in the Lake District. It was not solely about composition and technical development ( and it was very much tailored to individual needs) but also the introduction of some stunning new locations and view points for me. I cannot recommend this weekend enough.
Hi David Thanks for the links and attachment. I was with the gang who paid for the day with you today. I showed them the images on my laptop (quickly blended and minimally worked on in Photoshop) and they were very impressed – as am I! They’re the best images I’ve ever deliberately (as opposed to accidentally) achieved. It was a brilliant day as far as I’m concerned (even with the soaking!). I’m going to work on the images in photoshop and then post them online. I’ll definitely send you a link so you can see too what we captured. I don’t know when I’ll get chance though as I’ve been loaded up with lots of work to do today, so it might be a while as I want to take my time over them and experiment with the raw files. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening day – I learned lots! All the best Lynne
