I have just been on a one to one with David to the Flamborough area. To say it was a good day is an understatement. If you want a day out with somebody who fully understands all aspects of Photography and wants to share it with you this is your man. Nothing was too much trouble. Very many thanks David.
I have been on a number of photography workshops with David in the Yorkshire Dales, Yorkshire Wolds and Glencoe which I feel with David’s tuition my photography has greatly improved. David has a in-depth knowledge of the locations we visited which allows you to take some great photos of traditional views and spectacular locations that he has scouted out making your photographs unique. David his an excellent tutor who spends time with all workshop attendees helping where required on the technical aspects of photography for the camera, the use of filters where required etc to the artistic side of photography in composition which he has given me a lot of encouragement and advice. What I particularly like is, his patient when he is working with you and his constructive advice when reviewing your work, David is very flexible whilst you are on workshops and he selects the best locations that can be photographed during the appropriate weather conditions, which can range, big vistas, waterfalls, seascapes, woodlands to more intimate and abstract photographs. He is fully converse with photo editing software such as Lightroom, Adobe camera RAW and Photoshop and he takes time with you to learn photo editing techniques to reflect the mood of the subjects you photographed. I have been very pleased with the images I have photographed on his workshops and he always spends time with you to ensure that you come away from the workshops with photographs you can be proud of along with a set of new skills you can further develop in your own time. I thoroughly recommend David’s workshops to any enthusiastic photographer and I’m and looking forward to attending some more of his workshops in the Lake District, Northumberland Coast and North Wales.
Just returned from a weekend workshop with David in the Dales. Challenging weather conditions but Davids knowledge of the Dales meant we could still photograph interesting sites. The first time I have been on a workshop when the guide leaves his own camera behind, meaning that he is concentrating on helping his guests learn new skills in both camera technique and composition. I look forward to meeting David again and learning a bit more. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
David, Many thanks for organising the week long trip to Scotland. How you manage to organise a dry Scotland with blue skies for a whole week in November is a mystery to me but you achieved it. It is a credit to yourself and the dedication you put into preparing your workshops that for such a distant location you were able to take us to ideal spots in the middle of nowhere to take shots of breath taking scenery in both Glencoe and on the Isle of Eigg. This was my 3rd workshop with you and again I appreciated the knowledge and skills you were able to pass on to all of us (as well as the loan of some of your equipment). Not only was it educational from the photography point of view it was also an excellent weeks holiday - well that's how it felt, tiring but great fun. My wife and I had a 1-to-1 workshop with David last week. As novices we learnt so much about how to use our camera, as well as the opportunity to take some very interesting photos in and around North Yorkshire, coast and inland. The day flew by and after the day together we couldn't wait to put some of our new found skills into action. Everything makes so much more sense now. Excellent value for money, stress free and David went the extra mile to make sure we got the best out of the day. Thank you!
I have just come back from the three day course in Northumberland. I found David to be very knowledgeable, patient and above all a great teacher who really cares that his students get excellent value for money. I will certainly be back for more.
A great 1-1 day during which I learnt a huge amount from David and we went to some excellent photographic locations in Northumberland that I'd not been to before. Up to now I've just used basic techniques but I now understand a lot more about my camera and how to get the best out of manual settings, as well as finding out how long exposure settings and filters can enhance shots. Highly recommended.
Great day. Dave was really patient and looked after me totally (despite being a Londoner who had never been near a Yorkshire Moor before and made a drama out of the dark and the weather!) I used what David showed me the very next day and my photos were great. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!
Just had a tremendous day in Northumberland... Howick, Alnwick Castle and Holy Island. Expert tutoring from a real professional who shares his extensive knowledge fully. Opened my eyes to the potential that my camera has to offer, which hitherto had been a mystery. Tremendous. Just need to fix a date for another workshop.
I’ve just returned from David’s Lake District workshop and can’t thank him enough for his knowledge of the area and the fantastic photographic locations he took us to and for all the tips and techniques he gave me which resulted in many images I am really pleased with. His relaxed and friendly manner made the whole experience a complete joy .
