Hi David, I cant say how much I enjoyed the workshop, even in the wet morning conditions. You are a natural teacher, that is quite a rare skill. The advice was constructive and never judgemental and we both felt that we could ask for help without feeling stupid. I was physically tired after such a long day - don't know how you do it and keep up the enthusiasm when working on consecutive days. I will be coming on some future workshops. Thanks again Lyn
Well David, I have found time to sit down and thank you for a great day out at Malham in early February. When I say early I also mean early in the morning. The day was absolutely brilliant. You pitched the day just right for my knowledge. I now have more confidence when using my camera on ‘manual’ mode. If anyone wants a great day out learning about landscape photography, book a day with David. All the best David and I hope to share another day with you in the future
For various reasons (mainly involving work!) I had fallen out of love with photography. I just didn't have the time needed to feel happy with the outcomes. I am pleased to say that the Lake District course with David has successfully re-awakened my interest; I picked up plenty of tips, the most important being to take greater control of the process. David introduced me to some new techniques as well as helping me to brush up on the many others. If you, like me, feel you are in the photography doldrums, I can fully recommend David to sort you out. Equally, he clearly has the knowledge and experience to help you move forward with your photography, whatever your need.
Many thanks once again for another excellent couple of days out with you. Your knowledge of the Yorkshire countryside and the best places to take photographs must be unique and unsurpassed. Amazing places so close to the 'Industrial North' and some great pics. Thanks for introducing a couple of techniques new to me that were a great help and which I will go on using. See you next year!
Thank you for a brilliant day in the Hebden Bridge area. Part of a group of 4, Davids enthusiasm and obvious passion for photography was clear. He took his time with everyone, answering any number of questions and took us to numerous different locations to get good shots. He is such a professional but has a refreshing, easy going approach that made it such an enjoyable experience. I most definitely came away from the day wanting to put everything into practise and learn more. Very highly recommended.
I joined David on his Whitby workshop. A great day, I came away feeling far more confident about photography in general. I hope to do another day with David in the future.
I cannot recommend the beginners photography course with David highly enough, from the ease of booking and payment to communication about the days logistics. Starting with explaining the basics of any DSLR camera to explaining the functions easily on our individual camera types. Demonstrations of equipment and technique was thorough and Davids knowledge and experience in his field are second to none. We were guided through some spectacular scenery and venues to try all sorts of different styles of photography, different subjects, lighting and locations. A full, fun packed immersive day with a professional. I may not have had a clue about my new hobby before I went, but after my workshop I have a good overview of my equipment and the know how to go away and start practicing. Nothing was too much trouble to explain and no question too silly, I ABSOLUTELY loved every minute! I will be back! Thank you David for igniting a new hobby and passion in me! Dear David, The Acrylic panel arrived on Monday thank you, as scheduled. I am very pleased to say that the picture has even exceeded our aspirations! It is a very vibrant and colourful print and the acrylic mounting format is stunning, and will act as a vivid reminder of a trip we had there last year on a bright sunny day. My normally difficult to please partner (who it was a late Christmas present for) described it as the most beautiful picture she’d seen. I was initially concerned about the very high-gloss finish acting like a mirror, as the location we bought it for is on a reflection line next to our living room bay window. I ordered this finish, following your initial suggestion, mainly as the canvas version wasn’t available in my favoured size. However, the appearance when viewed from other angles in the room and in artificial light, more than makes up for any surface reflection issues. We have an existing ceiling spotlight located directly above it which further helps to enhance it in artificial light. Hi Dave, Just wanted to say thanks for a great day on your Malham workshop, it was good to have another persons view on things and the different techniques you showed me for different situations came in very handy. Hopefully after such a great day I can go on and keep improving my photography skills. A very good experience and I would highly recommend, many thanks Dave.
I spent last Friday with David up near Malham. I am a complete novice at photography. I felt a bit overwhelmed by the amount of information David gave me but I have retained much more than I expected. I have taken photographs every day since I returned. I am borrowing a camera from my husband who is a keen photographer and we now intend to make it a joint hobby. Much to my surprise, a real interest was sparked off by David. I would highly recommend him. His knowledge is amazing and he is a very easy person to spend time with. I'll be booking another workshop when I develop more expertise, meanwhile the beautiful autumn weather is an inspiration.
Having just returned from the 3 day Autumn workshop in the Lake District with David and being quite a novice and put at ease very quickly by David. Firstly the accommodation at Lane Head Farm was first class, and I would highly recommend. Even having a couple of damp days you always found some stunning locations, you introduced me to parts of my camera I wouldn’t touch, but now enjoy taking manual pictures, I will keep practising on every opportunity and hope to book again in the near future.
