The workshop was well presented with great places to photograph (Malham) I've learn so much in one day, I didn't know my camera could do half the things you showed us. I spent last Friday with David up near Malham. I am a complete novice at photography. I felt a bit overwhelmed by the amount of information David gave me but I have retained much more than I expected. I have taken photographs every day since I returned. I am borrowing a camera from my husband who is a keen photographer and we now intend to make it a joint hobby. Much to my surprise, a real interest was sparked off by David. I would highly recommend him. His knowledge is amazing and he is a very easy person to spend time with. I'll be booking another workshop when I develop more expertise, meanwhile the beautiful autumn weather is an inspiration.
I joined David on his Whitby workshop. A great day, I came away feeling far more confident about photography in general. I hope to do another day with David in the future.
Dear David, Many thanks for two excellent days in the Dales. What I enjoyed was your enthusiasm and real effort in trying to find venues that would ‘work’ in the prevailing conditions. You worked very hard to make it a worthwhile workshop, tirelessly thinking what might work best. Your tutor role was informal but effective and you are the first ‘leader’ I’ve encountered who ever asked his clients whether they would mind if he used his own camera! I’ve failed [to date] to access the RAW files but time has been short - but I’ll be sure to ask for help if I don’t succeed. May the coming weeks bring you great skies and gentle weather.
Great day. Dave was really patient and looked after me totally (despite being a Londoner who had never been near a Yorkshire Moor before and made a drama out of the dark and the weather!) I used what David showed me the very next day and my photos were great. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!
Thanks so much for the Yorkshire Dales one to one workshop on Saturday, I really enjoyed it. The locations you took us to were superb and the help and advice you offered was excellent. The way the day was split up made it feel like we were there for longer than we really were. I’m just working through my photos now and am really pleased with them. I think we’d both really like to come back up in the Autumn and spend some more time with you doing another workshop. I'm an average guy with pretty basic kit. David showed me how to get better pictures out of it, and how to think better about composition and light. His questionnaire drew out what I specifically wanted, and he made sure I got it without either going over my head or patronising me. As far as I could tell, he managed the same things just as successfully with everyone present, all while making it a pleasant occasion and taking us to some great locations I'd never have found. A brilliant day - I'll be back for more!
I did the Northumberland workshop and would like to thank David for the effort he put in to make it work. He delivers essential information in a relaxed style in the field. He loaned me filters and a tripod head so I could learn new techniques and shared his time equally. A great course.
For various reasons (mainly involving work!) I had fallen out of love with photography. I just didn't have the time needed to feel happy with the outcomes. I am pleased to say that the Lake District course with David has successfully re-awakened my interest; I picked up plenty of tips, the most important being to take greater control of the process. David introduced me to some new techniques as well as helping me to brush up on the many others. If you, like me, feel you are in the photography doldrums, I can fully recommend David to sort you out. Equally, he clearly has the knowledge and experience to help you move forward with your photography, whatever your need.
I’ve just returned from David’s Lake District workshop and can’t thank him enough for his knowledge of the area and the fantastic photographic locations he took us to and for all the tips and techniques he gave me which resulted in many images I am really pleased with. His relaxed and friendly manner made the whole experience a complete joy .
